Unverified Accounts, the place for unchecked Asian American opinions on arts and culture, with a smattering of politics! Every week, the trio of Eliza, Chris, and Filip will discuss movies (or sometimes, a book) that are connected to a pertinent cultural/political issue going on right now, usually from online cultures. As the Unverifieds announced in the previous episode, they will now be joining up with their Plan A family to release all future episodes of Unverified Accounts on the Escape From Plan A RSS feed! So this will be the last Unverified Accounts on this feed, but they will continue to release episodes (under the same name) as part of Escape From Plan A. In this episode, the trio talk about the ideas they've been able to formulate thus far about Asian American culture by doing this pod, what they want to see next, and how it's affecting some of their own creative endeavors.

Ep. 39 - Twitter High School (ft. Jess)
Tuesday May 11, 2021
Tuesday May 11, 2021
The Unverifieds are joined by Jess (Escape From Plan A) to talk about how unbelievably bad the Netflix movie Moxie is. The movie is the story of a teenage feminist uprising in a high school (where everybody talks like walking Twitter accounts), but it is so ham-fisted and narratively underwhelming that it does disservice to its own cause.
Please note: As we mention on this episode, after our 40th episode, Unverified Accounts will join up with our Escape From Plan A mates and launch our episodes from that feed!

Ep. 38: L-I-V-I-N or Languishing?
Sunday May 02, 2021
Sunday May 02, 2021
Alright alright alright, the Unverifieds, without Filip, discuss an about COVID-related "languishing" and discuss whether this is real or just upper-class self-pity. Plus, they discuss the publishing wars over what to do with book deals for former Trump White House officials and possible ways to bring cancel culture to a peaceful end.

Ep. 36 - Death to the Ivy League Mindset
Sunday Apr 18, 2021
Sunday Apr 18, 2021
The Unverifieds discuss the new Netflix documentary Operation Varsity Blues, which is all about the infamous 2019 college admissions scandal, and how even though the documentary is enjoyable, it misses the mark of putting more blame on the true culprits: the elite colleges themselves (as opposed to bad-apple rich parents and sports coaches). They also talk about how the cultivation of the "Ivy League mindset" poisons society, especially minority communities in creating stratified intra-racial hierarchies. Lastly, Liza gets her long-held wish to talk about Risky Business on a podcast!

Ep. 34 - Outdated Asian American Tropes
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Monday Apr 05, 2021
The Unverifieds talk about certain Asian American narrative tropes that either need to evolve or just be retired. They review Boogie (spoilers from 17:50 to 38:05) which employs a number of these tropes, including 2nd generation culture clashing, Asian masculinity insecurities, and interracial relationship dialogues. In their weekly rundown, they also discuss Harvard mental health services' handling of anti-Asian violence, Manny Pacquiao telling anti-Asian racists to fight him instead, and the weird inclusion of the droogs from A Clockwork Orange in Space Jam 2.

Sunday Mar 28, 2021
Sunday Mar 28, 2021
The Unverifieds read The New Class War by Michael Lind and speculate what Asian American populism might look like. They also go through some of the silly news of the week, from the new Female Dating Strategy podcast, the latest cancel culture wars (involves Raya and Oxford University), why Andrew Yang has triggered activist Asians from the get-go, and whether Prince William is indeed the sexist bald man alive.

Ep. 32 - Atlanta Asian Spa Murders: Will The Energy Last?
Sunday Mar 21, 2021
Sunday Mar 21, 2021
The Unverifieds discuss the horrific Atlanta Asian spa murders and their concerns that the righteous energy from it will disappear once the narrative becomes more complex as it was before (as opposed to blaming the creepy white religious incel). Also, they discuss the need for more specific language when discussing the topic of fetishization and the whole craziness going on at Lowell High School in San Francisco.
